Here, she could indulge her passion and still help people without all the drama. Now, she is on a mission to create resources for anyone looking to understand their mind’s inner workings better or to learn more about their loved one’s mental health condition. Despite claiming to be an introvert, Gillian can be quite talkative, especially when the topics revolve around gaming, geek/nerdy stuff, K-Pop, and cats. - Tabitha Arey, PMHNP-BC | Trauma-Informed Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner | Paperflower Psychiatry
Tabitha Arey, PMHNP-BC, offers trauma-informed psychiatric care at Paperflower Psychiatry. Specializing in mental health for children, teens, and adults, including foster care and substance use disorders. Now accepting new patients across Arizona. Tabitha Arey, MSN, PMHNP-BC Tabitha is a board certified psychiatric nurse practitioner with experience working with kids and teens in the foster care system, adults experiencing substance use disorders, and patients in the Trauma/Neuro ICU and COVID ICU experiencing extreme mental and physical trauma and loss. These experiences have affirmed her passion for mental health care and obsession with the fascinating and resilient nature of the human brain and people’s ability to overcome adversity. She also just generally enjoys helping others find ways to effectively cope with the bittersweetness of living, parenting, and experiencing joy in today’s social, environmental, and political climate. Her two small humans and two rescue pups keep her on her toes and provide plenty of laughter and chaos on the daily. We can confirm she has a dark sense of humor, dislikes talking about herself and will vibe with you if you're socially awkward. Neurodivergence Tabitha offers neurodivergence evaluations for autism and ADHD -- and she is an incredibly affirming presence even if you choose to go the self diagnosis route. Ketamine Tabitha will be offering Ketamine evaluations and IM administration at our Tempe location on select days. Substance Use Finding a provider who thoroughly understands and can not be judgmental in terms of treating co-existing substance use disorders can be difficult - but Tabitha is definitely your person for this. Q&A What is your favorite movie? I’m more of a TV show person, but favorite movies would include Star Wars, Avatar, and Interstellar. Favorite Superhero: Deadpool – simply for the laughs and dark humor. But Dr. Strange and Gamora are close runner ups since they are smart and badass and whatnot. If you could have a superpower, what superpower would you pick? Time travel – pretty sure I would thrive as a cavewoman. Favorite bands/singer? I am unapologetically a product of the 90’s, so my taste in music is all over the place – some faves include Radiohead, Blink-182, Jack Johnson, or any 90’s hip hop. If you had 3 wishes, what would you wish for? to live right next to a mountain so I could hike every day, an end to fighting/war in the name of religion, and free health care for all. Tell me a fun fact about yourself: If I had to choose another career, I’d be a marine biologist. I’ve been a scuba instructor since my early 20’s and I’m lowkey obsessed with the weird creatures in the ocean (octopus, jellyfish, nudibranchs) and love diving with sharks. Tell us about your pets: I have 2 rescue doggos. The grumpy old lady Zoe is an 11-year-old Chi-weenie who weighs 9lbs and is [obviously] the alpha. The big ol’ doofus Lincoln is a 6-year-old heeler/pitbull/dalmatian mix with tall/skinny legs, which makes him resemble an AT-AT robot from Star Wars. What are you most passionate about in the mental health field? : I mean – all of it. But if I have to pick one thing it would be ending stigma. We have come a long way, but there’s still so much shame and secrecy surrounding mental illness. Stigma just perpetuates and compounds the problems experienced by people with a mental health diagnosis. Being able to openly share and seek help without fear of judgment is the best way to realize we’re all human and we’re in this together. What are your thoughts about treating adult ADHD?: I think treatment depends on how it affects your everyday life, which can vary greatly from person to person. Being diagnosed in adulthood is becoming more common as we begin to understand how people (especially women) adapt, compensate, and mask symptoms of neurodivergence from an early age and may not match textbook definitions. If a patient is nervous about an evaluation, especially when talking about tough things like trauma or sexual abuse, what would you want them to know? You certainly don’t have to tell me anything you don’t want to. It does help to have a clear picture of your history to differentiate between symptoms of trauma and other diagnoses; however, this is entirely up to you if you wish to share or not. I will ask in a general way, and you can give as much or as little info as you want. I have plenty of personal and professional experience with processing traumatic events, so you don’t have to feel alone in your tough experiences ever. What are other things you feel could be beneficial to improve mental health other than medications?: I’m a big advocate for therapy, especially if you find a therapist you vibe with and can be completely honest with. There’s also so much research supporting the effects of nutrition, exercise, sleep, and sunlight on mental health, so despite them being almost everyone’s least favorite solution – they can be a game changer. What is your philosophy on using medication to treat mental health? Are medications lifelong? : Medication for mental health can be lifesaving – I have no doubt about this. However, I understand why a person may be hesitant to try this option due to many factors, such as side effects, stigma, and general misconceptions about some meds. I do think there are many ways to approach mental health treatment and medications are only one potential piece of the puzzle. I believe medications can, in most cases, support a struggling individual in a way that allows them to not have to spend so much energy just to keep their head above water. As a result, they can instead use that energy to engage in therapy and/or other services that can help complete that mental health care puzzle and lead to more long-term solutions. The duration of medication for mental health depends entirely on the risk versus benefit for each person, and it is ultimately your choice if you decide medications aren’t right for you for any reason. Do you have any personal experiences regarding mental health you are open to sharing? sharing? I have definitely had my own experiences in mental health care throughout my life, and that is a part of what led me to this field. I think that making it through the things I’ve made it through has solidified my belief that anyone can persevere and thrive despite any setback, adversity, or shitty situation. Tell us about the intersection between your experience in the neuro ICU and psychiatry?: Neuro ICU taught me so much about how even just the smallest of changes in our brains can alter so many aspects of everyday lives including language, balance, memory, learning, motor function – everything. It was also a place where many people were experiencing the worst days of their lives at a young age due to head trauma, strokes, and other similar things. This environment nudged me into having the absolute honor of holding parent’s/spouse’s/children’s hands while guiding them through the devastating process of unexpected loss, giving me the constant reminder that there are only 2 guarantees in life: birth and death; everything in between is what we make of it. Taking care of our meat suits – especially the noggin portion can make our time here more enjoyable.
- Paperflower Psychiatry
Paperflower Psychiatry is a holistic and inclusive psychiatric practice specializing in evaluations and medication for children, adolescents, peripartum and adults in Arizona. Telehealth + offices in Tempe, North PHX + Flagstaff. Self booking is available online. Wanting to learn more about mental health? We've been working on offering some educational resources, and we're happy to add anything else you might be interested in! Just email gillian@paperflowerpsychiatry.com with any ideas, and we're on it for researching and putting it together. This is what we've got so far to start your journey in learning. Depression, Bipolar & Mood Anxiety & OCD ADHD & Autism LGBTQIA+ & BIPOC Mental Health Trauma & Stress Pregnancy & Postpartum Depression, Bipolar & Mood I'm a strong believer that depression and bipolar exist on a "mood spectrum" and the DSM5 is garbage when it comes to trying to understand etiology, symptoms or a true label. The truth is that there is so much we don't know yet about these topics. And some people continue to struggle despite trying dozens of medications. What we do know is that these are not personal failures. And you're not alone. Anxiety & OCD Social anxiety, generalized anxiety, phobias, agoraphobia, trichotillomania, excoriation disorder, obsessive compulsive disorder, hoarding.. these are beasts to live with. And it's not as simple as "just don't think about it," or "think positive." Autism & ADHD We do assess for ADHD in our regular evaluations for all ages and we offer comprehensive self-pay neurodivergence evaluations for those who are seeking clarification on an autism diagnosis. We recognize that AUDHD also comes with sensory processing concerns, frequently with connective tissue disorders, MCAS, POTS.. at Paperflower, we are openly neurodivergent owned (and tbh, staffed) and support a neuroaffirmative approach. Educational Content: A Self-Help Guide for Recently Diagnosed Autistic Adults POTS & Neurodivergence ADHD & Anhedonia: when motivation ghosts you. We know the statistics say that when you have a provider of color as a person of color, your outcome is better. For all of us, continuing to educate ourselves, especially at this oppressive point in history, is critical. Fertility, Pregnancy & Postpartum Mental health concerns are ever present if you are planning a pregnancy, going through fertility treatments, grieving a miscarriage or stillbirth, are pregnant or freshly postpartum (or maybe a year or two postpartum because wtf, body). Trauma & Stress The one thing I can truly say about our practice is that we genuinely try to be trauma informed. We all operate under the principle that everyone has probably experienced trauma, and therefore we need to always make sure we are not inadvertently re-traumatizing anyone. But we are here to hear your story and work alongside in your journey to heal. Other Mental Health Concerns & Tips Anyone who is out there boasting that lifestyle changes are the key to mental health changes can go away, tbh. But mental wellness definitely has components of a ton of things -- and self care, whatever that looks like, is apart of that. Here's some resources.
- Psychiatric Medications and Care in Mesa AZ: Meet Dr. Meghan Orbegoso, DNP, PMHNP-BC
Meet Meghan Orbegoso, MSN, PMHNP-BC, a compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner offering expert care and psychiatric medications in Tempe, AZ. Dr. Meghan Orbegoso, DNP, PMHNP-BC Hi! I’m Meghan, but feel free to call me Meg or Dr. O. I am a psychiatric nurse and nurse educator with many years’ experience in most mental health settings including outpatient, voluntary inpatient, court ordered inpatient, SMI populations, psychiatric urgent care and crisis units. I work at Phoenix Children’s inpatient psych unit and float to the behavioral health area in the emergency department. I also teach mental health specialty for nursing students. I chose to go into education and become a nurse practitioner because I am determined to be the change I want to see in the world. During my nursing education and nurse practitioner education journey, there were no instructors that looked like me or looked like anyone that I grew up with or that I felt could relate to BIPOC, first-generation, or even to barriers of social determinants of health. My family background is Peruvian and my husband is Dominican and we love to EAT! We love trying new dishes and cuisines we have not tried yet so please share any recommendations! Our toddler is still in his chicken nuggets only phase, but he will hopefully see the light and seasoning by his ancestors soon. When I’m not working or spending time with family, I like to dissociate in light-hearted media including YouTube, mobile games, fan-fictions, anime, and BBC’s 1995 Pride and Prejudice. I stay informed and therefore stay away from fictional media that is serious; the real-life state of the world is drama enough! Child/Adolescent With a focus on child and adolescent mental health, Meg is dedicated to helping young people and their families navigate challenges with confidence and understanding. She provides clear, practical guidance tailored to each child’s developmental stage, ensuring both emotional well-being and safety. Her supportive approach fosters resilience, open communication, and a strong foundation. Neurodivergence While Meg is not yet trained in diagnosing Autism, she is phenomenal at offering neuroaffirming care. She takes time to learn each person’s unique strengths, challenges, sensory needs and communication styles. Anxiety & Mood Meg offers a comforting presence and the ability to help navigate anxiety, depression, irritability, and pediatric bipolar disorder. Her therapeutic style blends evidence-based strategies with compassionate listening and empathy. Families and children alike appreciate her calm demeanor and commitment to creating a safe, supportive environment for healing and growth. Q&A What is your favorite movie? Lion King Favorite superhero? Class C Hero - Saitama! If you could have a superpower, what superpower would you pick? To speak every language and always have the right words to say. If you had 3 wishes, what would you wish for? That everyone had access to mental health care, a solid support system, and a loving community. That our days and weeks and months were longer and not to get more done, but to rest, spend time, and enjoy. For everyone to feel safe, to feel seen and known, to feel they are enough, and to believe they deserve care and kindness. Tell us a fun fact about yourself: I have serious stage-fright. I don't know how I decided to become an educator and lead lectures/lessons for 50+ nursing students at a time. I know why I want to do it, but I still don't get how I manage to speak coherently while I internally panic. Tell us about your pets: I have a Pit Mix named Goose. He got his name from his honk-like kennel cough he had when we rescued him. He is a good boy What are ways beyond medication that can improve your mental health? All of the self-care activities! All of the positive lifestyle practices that make sense for you and your family and community. Connecting with nature, caring for yourself emotionally, spiritually, holistically matters. Having strong healthy relationships matter! The results from the 80+ year Harvard wellbeing study are clear: "The clearest message that we get from this 75-year study is this: Good relationships keep us happier and healthier. Period." - R. Waldinger, Director of the Harvard Study. If a patient is nervous about an evaluation, especially when talking about tough things like trauma or sexual abuse, what would you want them to know? You are safe with me. We can discuss as little or as much as you feel ready, willing, and able to share in the moment. I will not push you to disclose more than you want to. What is your philosophy on using medication to treat mental health? Are medications lifelong? My favorite medication is Therapy. It has the fewest side effects and the longest half-life. :) But really, I believe medication can be a valuable resource and tool in a client's treatment plan, but should not be considered in isolation. I want to work with you and collaborate on all aspects of mental health which includes medications and more. Whether medications are life-long will vary from client to client and from situation to situation. What are your thoughts about treating adult ADHD? I was diagnosed with ADHD in adulthood. I grew up in a family that did not believe in mental health. That struggle with executive function was just laziness and the only treatment was to "ponte las pilas" or "work harder". I had teachers from kindergarten to college say "she's smart, but she would do better if she just applied herself." I failed out two Universities and several classes in my life until I learned about mental health in nursing school. The day after the first lecture on mental health and illness I scheduled a psychiatric evaluation. I was expecting a diagnosis of anxiety and ended up learning I was depressed and struggled with ADHD. I started treatment and the world opened up. I went from failing and being withdrawn due to academic performance to graduating with 3.8 for my Bachelors and Doctorate degrees. I have a lot of thoughts and feelings when it comes to adult ADHD. A wonderful psychiatric nurse practitioner diagnosed me and still manages my treatment and I look forward to helping my future clients in their journey. Yes, I shared a bit about my experience with adult ADHD in the previous question. In that first psychiatric evaluation, I learned I also had been struggling with depression. I remember being told that it was not normal to constantly feel like a burden and having negative thoughts playing on a loop in your mind. I was shooketh! And let me tell you when I started my first antidepressant and the negative thoughts slowed and eventually stopped! Flabber-fucking-ghasted! Because what do you mean I just needed store bought serotonin to stop feeling like a constant burden!? Witch-craft! Brujeria! And I love it! I want to help others also realize they are worthy of taking up space! I want you to man-spread to the heavens (figuratively of course, but also you do you!) with how comfortable you are with taking up space and knowing you deserve care, you deserve kindness, and you deserve to feel and know that you are enough just as you are :)

Maria specializes in providing compassionate care for mental health challenges during the perinatal period. - Meet Donna: Billing Specialist at Paperflower Psychiatry in Arizona
Meet Donna May Del Mundo, the dedicated billing specialist at Paperflower Psychiatry in Arizona, USA. Learn more about her role and expertise on our page. Donna Del Mundo Hello, my name is Maria Donna May Del Mundo (whew!) but you can call me Donna. I am a mother of 2 girls and 1 cat. My hobbies are playing Nintendo Switch and traveling. I specifically like travelling with a motorcycle as it makes me appreciate the view more but we only do that if we are not traveling with kids. I decided to become a medical biller because I've always had a passion for both healthcare and organization. I have experienced hardship and discrimination when I had a miscarriage way back 2014 that is why I understand the importance of insurance and accurate billing to a patient. I enjoy the meticulous nature of medical billing, where attention to detail is crucial. Helping patients understand their medical expenses, fighting insurance companies and ensureingthat healthcare providers receive proper reimbursement for the services they provide gives me a sense of fulfillment. Becoming a medical biller allows me to combine my passion for healthcare with my organizational skills to make a positive difference in patients' lives. contact: billing@paperflowerpsychiatry.com Collections Insurance Verifications Payment Plans & Assistance

Based in Arizona, serving clients virtually and in person. Welcome to Ouroboros Paperflower Psychiatry is proud to collaborate with Ouroboros Integration & Education Services. Education, preparation, and integration for conscious exploration. At Ouroboros, we support individuals engaging with altered states of consciousness through professional education, emotional preparation, and integration resources. Our services are rooted in harm reduction principles, psychological insight, and a commitment to personal autonomy. We specialize in helping people make informed, intentional choices around psychedelics, cannabis, ketamine-assisted therapy, and other non-ordinary experiences — including microdosing — without supplying, encouraging, or facilitating the use of any substance. For those seeking legal retreat experiences, we assist in identifying reputable, safety-conscious providers and offer support in vetting programs for legitimacy, ethics, and alignment with your intentions. We provide comprehensive pre-experience preparation and post-experience integration services to help ensure continuity, insight, and emotional grounding. We believe that safe, meaningful inner work requires thoughtful preparation and structured integration. Whether you're exploring therapeutic, spiritual, or creative dimensions of consciousness, we offer a grounded and evidence-informed approach to support your process before, during, and after significant experiences. The name Ouroboros reflects the cyclical nature of transformation — a continual process of shedding, awakening, and returning. We honor the complexity of that path, offering resources and reflection to help you integrate change with care and intention. Your journey is your own. We're here to help you navigate it with knowledge, safety, and respect. About Services & Pricing Schedule now Anchor 1 John Greeley Lead Integration Specialist & Wellness Guide Offering preparation and integration support for clients exploring altered states of consciousness. I’m John Greeley, a certified life coach with over 15 years of experience supporting people through periods of transition, growth, and deep inner work utilizing consciousness altering compounds and techniques. My path into this work was shaped by a lifelong fascination with human consciousness and a personal belief that healing and transformation are not linear — they are cyclical, layered, and deeply individual. I created this practice because I saw a gap: people were having powerful experiences with psychedelics, cannabis, and other altered states — sometimes legally, sometimes underground — but often with little to no support before or after. These experiences can be profound, but without proper preparation or integration, their potential is often lost, or worse, becomes confusing or destabilizing. My role isn’t to facilitate or promote substance use — it’s to support people who are choosing these paths to do so with mindfulness, safety, and clarity. Whether someone is exploring cannabis for anxiety, preparing for a legal psychedelic retreat, navigating ketamine-assisted therapy, or working to change a difficult relationship with cannabis, I’m here to help create space for honest reflection, practical tools, and lasting insight. I bring a harm reduction lens to everything I do, meaning I honor your autonomy and meet you exactly where you are — without judgment, dogma, or an agenda. My work integrates elements of mindfulness, somatic awareness, behavioral psychology, and emotional resilience. I also have a particular interest in supporting clients through cannabis use disorder and conscious cannabis practices, as I’ve seen both the benefits and the complexities of this plant in real lives. At my core, I believe that every altered state — whether expansive or difficult — has the potential to teach us something. My job is to help you make sense of it, integrate what matters, and move forward with intention. My interest in consciousness has always been more than academic — it's been deeply personal. Over the years, that curiosity led me to explore a variety of altered states through plants, fungi, synthetic compounds, and traditional techniques. One particular experience profoundly reshaped the trajectory of my life. To say it “changed” me would be an understatement — it dismantled long-held beliefs, dissolved certain fears, and initiated a radical shift in how I relate to myself, others, and this ongoing journey we call life. What truly impacted me wasn’t just the experience itself — it was the processing of the experience and integrating the insights and awareness into my day to day life. Months of inner work, reflection, and reorientation taught me that insight means little without the time and tools to embody it. Years later I still reflect on that experience and continue to learn from it. That realization became the foundation for the work I do now: helping others prepare for, navigate, and integrate their own transformational moments with care, safety, and clarity. About John I’m most at peace in wild spaces. I’m a lifelong student of consciousness. Before this work, I spent 17 years as a professional cannabis grower. Forests, deserts, rivers — nature has always been my grounding force and my clearest teacher. It’s where I go to reset, reconnect, and listen. My curiosity has led me to explore how it shifts, expands, and reveals. My journey has led me to explore altered states through plant medicines, psychedelics, synthetics, and traditional methods. I study psychology, consciousness-altering techniques, harm reduction, and a range of spiritual philosophies, always walking the line between modern science and ancient wisdom. My focus was on soil biology, entomology, and the subtle, complex relationships between plant, environment, and user. That hands-on experience continues to shape how I support clients exploring intentional cannabis use today. My favorite band is Tool. My favorite flower is cannabis. My favorite quote is.. "Today a young man on acid realized that all matter is merely energy condensed to a slow vibration — we are all one consciousness experiencing itself subjectively. There’s no such thing as death, life is only a dream, and we’re the imagination of ourselves." — Bill Hicks It’s a plant I’ve worked with, studied, and respected for years — not just for her utility and therapeutic potential, but for the diverse range of unique and powerful effects she can induce. Plus, she’s gorgeous. Their music is a perfect blend of cerebral and visceral — complex, math-based rhythms paired with lyrics that explore consciousness, shadow work, and the human condition. It’s the kind of art that doesn’t just entertain — it challenges, expands, and mirrors the journey inward. The Services Anchor 2 Cannabis Use Support Conscious engagement and balanced use for well-being. At Ouroboros, we offer comprehensive support for individuals exploring cannabis use, whether for wellness, creativity, or addressing potential use disorders. Our approach is rooted in mindfulness, harm reduction, and personal empowerment, helping clients engage with cannabis intentionally and mindfully. Cannabis Wellness Support includes: Exploring intentional use for wellness goals (e.g., sleep, anxiety, creativity, pain management) Mindfulness-based harm reduction practices to promote self-awareness and reduce risks Educating about dosage, strain selection, and the psychological and physiological effects of cannabis Cannabis Use Disorder Support focuses on: Understanding patterns of use and their impact on mental, emotional, and physical health Providing strategies for reducing or eliminating problematic use through structured reflection and behavior change techniques Developing personalized action plans for achieving healthier, balanced relationships with cannabis Providing resources for managing cravings, triggers, and withdrawal symptoms, and guiding clients through gradual reduction or cessation if desired Whether you’re seeking to optimize your cannabis use for health and creativity or need support managing an unhealthy pattern, our team offers personalized, evidence-based strategies that respect your autonomy and goals. Microdosing Support Intentional use. Informed choices. Lasting change. Microdosing — the practice of consuming sub-perceptual amounts of psychedelic substances — has gained attention for its potential to support mood, focus, creativity, and personal insight. At Ouroboros Integration and Education Services, we provide professional education and integration support for individuals exploring microdosing as part of their personal wellness or self-development journey. We do not supply or encourage the use of any substances. Instead, we offer evidence-informed resources to help individuals understand the potential benefits, limitations, and risks of microdosing within a legal and ethical framework. Our support may include: Personalized education on microdosing protocols and emerging research Risk awareness and harm reduction strategies Emotional and psychological preparation Integration support for insights or changes that arise over time Navigating microdosing within the context of mental health, creativity, or spiritual exploration Whether you're curious about starting a microdosing regimen or seeking to make sense of your experience over time, Ouroboros offers a space for grounded, non-judgmental reflection and informed decision-making. Microdosing is not a shortcut — it’s a subtle, long-term engagement with self-awareness and intentional change. We're here to support that process with care, clarity, and respect. Pre & Post Macrodosing Support Grounded support for transformative experiences. Macrodosing — engaging with a full-dose psychedelic experience — can be deeply impactful, offering opportunities for insight, healing, and personal transformation. At Ouroboros, we offer structured support both before and after such experiences to help ensure emotional safety, clarity of intention, and meaningful integration. Pre-macrodose support includes: Education about psychological, emotional, and physiological effects Safety planning and risk assessment based on individual history Clarifying intentions, preparing the mind and body, and optimizing set and setting Post-macrodose integration focuses on: Processing the experience in a supportive, non-judgmental space Identifying themes, insights, and emotional responses Developing actionable next steps to carry the experience forward into daily life Our role is not to encourage or facilitate psychedelic use, but to help individuals who are choosing to engage in these experiences do so with greater awareness, preparation, and care. Preparation Support Thoughtful preparation for meaningful experiences. We help individuals prepare emotionally, psychologically, and practically for altered states of consciousness. This includes education about potential effects, risk factors, and safety considerations, along with personalized preparation plans that may involve intention setting, mindfulness practices, and environmental checklists. Mindfulness Integration Practices Stabilizing insight through embodied awareness. We help clients incorporate breathwork, meditation, and other mindfulness-based practices into their personal integration process. These tools can enhance emotional regulation, deepen reflection, and support nervous system balance before and after non-ordinary state experiences. Sessions may include personalized routines, somatic awareness techniques, and practical strategies for cultivating presence in daily life. Retreat Planning Support Safe journeys begin with informed choices. We assist clients in identifying legally operating, ethically run retreat centers for psychedelic experiences abroad. This includes helping vet programs for safety, transparency, and alignment with client intentions. We also provide structured preparation for travel and support integration upon return — ensuring continuity and reflection before and after the retreat. Disclaimer: While we assist in identifying options for legal retreats, we do not operate, endorse, or represent any third-party psychedelic retreat center. Clients are solely responsible for verifying the legal status and safety of any retreat they choose to attend. Integration Support Making meaning after the experience. We offer space and structure for clients to reflect on and process their experiences. Integration sessions focus on identifying emotional themes, personal insights, and future intentions — turning powerful moments into lasting transformation through thoughtful dialogue, goal setting, and support. Harm Reduction Education Knowledge is the first layer of safety. Clients receive evidence-based information on safer practices related to cannabis, psychedelics, ketamine, and microdosing. Topics include managing risks, understanding interactions, preparing for challenging experiences, and creating safe environments (set and setting). Emergency preparedness strategies are also discussed when appropriate. Substance Use Wellness Planning Conscious use, aligned with your values. We support individuals who want to explore mindful and intentional relationships with substances like cannabis or explore microdosing. This may include evaluating use patterns, setting wellness-based goals (such as improving sleep, creativity, or emotional regulation), and applying mindfulness-based harm reduction frameworks to support clarity and self-awareness. Professional & Community Education Cultivating collective literacy in conscious exploration. We offer workshops, talks, and custom training for communities, professionals, and organizations seeking to deepen their understanding of altered states, integration, and harm reduction. These offerings include education on psychedelic-informed care, trauma-sensitive support strategies, ethical considerations in non-ordinary state work, and evidence-based insights into cannabis, ketamine, and microdosing. Whether you're a wellness provider, therapist, peer supporter, or simply curious, our goal is to foster dialogue, reduce stigma, and build informed, respectful communities around altered states of consciousness. You’re going to your first rave or festival and want to feel confident, safe, and intentional instead of overwhelmed or just going with the crowd. - Psychiatric Medications and Care in Tempe AZ: Meet Jane Na, MSN, PMHNP-BC
Meet Keyonta Chadwick, MSN, PMHNP-BC, a compassionate Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner offering virtual expert care and psychiatric medications. Keyonta Chadwick, MSN, PMHNP-BC Hi! I’m Keyonta Chadwick, a psychiatric nurse practitioner with a passion for inclusive, whole-person mental health care. I graduated in May 2025 with my MSN. My journey began in emergency and psychiatric nursing, and over the years I’ve found my calling in outpatient psychiatry supporting individuals across the lifespan as they navigate challenges like trauma, ADHD, anxiety, and mood disorders. As a mom to children with autism and a dedicated advocate for disability awareness and culturally responsive care I’m committed to creating safe, affirming spaces where people feel truly seen and heard. I believe healing happens when we bring the mind, body, and spirit into the conversation. Outside of work, you’ll often find me watching K-dramas, exploring holistic wellness, and diving into the rich world of traditional Chinese medicine. These interests shape how I connect with clients, blending curiosity, compassion, and cultural understanding into every session. Wherever you are on your mental health journey, I’m here to walk beside you with empathy, encouragement, and evidence-based care. BIPOC Population Keyonta is passionate about working with BIPOC populations, to create a culturally humble and safe place to receive mental health help. Neurodivergence Keyonta offers passionate care to autistic adults and families of autistic children. As an autism mom, she truly understands raising neurodivergent children in a neurotypical society including above and beyond advocacy. Trauma Keyonta has worked in psychiatric nursing for years supporting inpatient clients who have had traumatic care -- and beyond that, advocating to make sure they received trauma-informed care. Q&A What is your favorite movie? My music taste is all over the place I can go from jazz, R&B, trap, and rock in one playlist. Lately, I’ve really been into rock; Memphis May Fire and Elijah are two of my current favorites. Music helps me process emotions, focus, and recharge. Whether I’m unwinding or deep in study mode, I’ve got the perfect soundtrack ready. Favorite superhero? My superhero has always been my grandmother. She embodied resilience, love, and quiet strength. Her wisdom helped shape how I show up for others. If we’re talking comic book heroes though, I’d pick Storm she’s powerful, intuitive, and represents strength and identity all in one. If you could have a superpower, what superpower would you pick? The power to heal emotional and spiritual pain. Sometimes, the deepest wounds can’t be seen but they affect everything. I’d love to help lift that weight for people with just a touch. Tell us about your pets: I have two amazing rescue dogs Scooter and Gizmo. They’ve brought so much love, chaos, and comfort into my life. Scooter is my shadow and cuddle buddy, while Gizmo is the curious troublemaker with the sweetest eyes. They remind me daily to slow down and enjoy the little moments. If you had 3 wishes, what would you wish for? 1. For BIPOC individuals everywhere to be seen, heard, valued, and truly cared for in healthcare, in communities, and in every space. 2. For a world where no one experiences pain, hunger, fear, or hate. 3. To be able to communicate across all languages and species imagine the wisdom we’d gain from truly understanding each other. Tell us a fun fact about yourself: I love K-dramas! The stories, emotions, and cultural insights are so powerful I’ve laughed, cried, and healed watching them. I’m also fascinated by holistic health, especially traditional Chinese medicine. Exploring those approaches has helped me better connect with mind-body healing. What are ways beyond medication that can improve your mental health? Daily self-care matters yoga, aromatherapy, acupuncture, journaling, and spending time in nature are all go-to tools for me and my clients. And never underestimate the power of sleep it’s often the foundation of emotional well-being. If sleep’s off, we start there. You've mentioned being passionate about working with those with religious or cultural trauma can you tell us about that? Yes. As a Black woman and mother to neurodivergent children, I’ve seen the deep emotional impact of cultural expectations, generational trauma, and religious shame. I hold space for clients who carry those wounds without judgment and offer a safe space for healing through truth, compassion, and empowerment. If a patient is nervous about an evaluation, especially when talking about tough things like trauma or sexual abuse, what would you want them to know? Not at all. I work collaboratively with my clients to find the approach that works best for them whether that’s therapy, medication, lifestyle changes, or a mix. Some people benefit from long-term meds, others don’t. You have choices, and I’ll support you either way. What is your philosophy on using medication to treat mental health? Are medications lifelong? Medications are a good resource, but their need and effectiveness vary from person to person. There are many ways to treat mental illness such as with therapy, exercise, lifestyle changes, etc. Collaboration is key! You let me know what you are comfortable with, and we will create a plan together. Some patients may want to be on medications their whole life because that works for them, while others may use medication only temporarily. The only correct answer is what works best for you. What are your thoughts about treating adult ADHD? I was diagnosed with ADHD myself in October 2024, so I truly understand what it can feel like especially as an adult trying to manage work, family, and responsibilities while your brain is constantly multitasking. ADHD is real, and it’s not just about attention. It affects executive functioning, emotional regulation, sleep, and relationships. I approach it with compassion and practical tools to help you thrive. Do you have any personal mental health experiences you can share with us? Yes. I’ve lived with anxiety, trauma, and burnout. My diagnosis of ADHD brought a lot of clarity, and I’ve also found support through therapy, spiritual practice, and (when needed) medication. I believe in being transparent about my journey it breaks stigma and reminds others that healing is possible.
