I want to be as clear as humanly possible.
We do not support ICE. We have never supported ICE. Since I moved to Arizona, I have worked to provide pro-bono asylum evaluations and mental health care to undocumented folks.
If you do support ICE, I don't want your money here.
To be honest, I'd rather bankrupt than feign any form of political neutrality right now.

If your therapist or provider is currently silent on their social media/website in regards to the things that are occurring in this country, please consider that a sign. A sign that they may be in support of ICE executing Americans in the street. A sign that they support ICE for "doing a good job." Or maybe a sign of neutrality. A sign that they can close their eyes and remain "neutral" as they watch a 4 year old move into detention. Neutrality is a privilege.
The rest of us are here feeling extreme dissonance at watching a video of a person being murdered in the streets and videos of people being ripped away from their families as we then have to go back to work. Go back to playing princesses or games with our kids. Like wtf of sick land are we living in?
This is America. This is the president who decided to kidnap the leader of Venezuela to openly control their oil -- and the entire world stood by and did nothing. Just as they have stood by without acting as a genocide occurred in Palestine.
And now many of us are fearing for our lives. People of color are afraid to leave their homes. They are detaining people regardless of status. Don't have your SSN memorized? They'll take you. Have an accent? They'll be on you. Going to Target to shop (plz don't)? They'll be there too.

We fear for our freedom to speak or protest. Can we speak out? ICE are taking photos of people at protests and saying they are logging us into a domestic terrorism database. Does that mean our right to vote will be voided? They are telling people to not raise their voices or they will "erase" their voice. And they are granted immunity. Americans are being detained for protesting. And now journalists who dissent are being detained.
I can't even begin to fathom the amount of sexual assault occurring. Immunity. They have immunity to do whatever they want.
Today, we participated in the general strike. But this strike is not enough. We are watching democracy being erased before our eyes. We are watching any history that is not favorable to white folks be erased.
ICE has now come into our state. Folks are showing up. We don't want them here.

Some of you might have noticed that Zipp's recently had 15 raided locations. People who worked there for 18 years had been detained. And you know what? Corporate Zipps gave them all up. Can you imagine how sick it is to have provided your loyalty for almost two decades to a company, and have them just throw you away?
More disgusting is that they are scapegoating an immigrant that they ordered to hire undocumented folks and create fake documentation. Dude, I often ask my supervisors to put out ads, interview and hire administrative staff. I tell them the documentation I need, how much I want to pay them, and what I'm expecting. ME. I am responsible for whatever I am asking my staff to do.
This man was ordered to hire people who are undocumented. And the person who ordered him to do that is not being held responsible. They often hire undocumented folks in order to pay lower wages. However, why are they charging the "hiring manager" instead of the owner? Oh, because the owner is a white Trump supporter who sold out his workers. This is literally disgusting.
I hope none of you ever support this place again.
Consider who you see speaking up. Consider who is silent. Be mindful of who you are supporting.
Believe the things you see with your eyes. The news will be next to lie to us. The US owns TikTok now. That will, too, be used as a form to spread propaganda.
Be safe.
Stay prepared.
Love,
Maria
